This is the spoiler-free orientation for your first hours in Twisted Tower (Steam, 2026) — the systems the game explains poorly, distilled from release-day reviews. For numbers and lists, use the wiki section; for area-by-area detail, the gameplay guide.

How does progression actually work?

The tower is not one continuous climb. The lobby is your hub: you clear a themed area, collect tickets, ride the elevator to the next, and loop back to the lobby between areas. If you feel “sent back,” that is the structure, not a failed run.

What should I spend tickets on first?

Tickets are the upgrade currency at the Real Boy Station, which sells damage, magazine size, reload speed, and alternate-fire upgrades. Reviewers consistently note the economy is tight — a common launch-week complaint is ticket balance — so spend on your main weapon instead of spreading thin across the arsenal.

Why are some rooms sealed?

Rooms marked for abilities you do not have yet are gated behind Twisted Toys (Harpoon, Fairy Wings, Clown Shoes, Jetpack), which are unlocked through Twisted Token rooms as you advance. This is intentional backtracking design: note the sealed room, keep climbing, come back when you own the right Toy. Details per Toy: Toys & Tokens.

Do my route choices matter?

Yes — the game advertises multiple unique paths per playthrough, and route choices lock in for that run. You cannot see everything in one climb, and that is what NG+ is for. Do not stress a “wrong” pick on your first run.

Any comfort or difficulty options?

Yes. The Steam page lists adjustable difficulty, camera-comfort options, custom volume controls, and full controller support (DualShock included). If the carnival-dark lighting gives you trouble in early areas, you are not alone — demo players said the same, and the comfort toggles exist for exactly that.
